Because the Land Use Diagram is not intended as a <br />zoning map, a certain amount of flexibility will be used in its implementation. In other words, the overall <br />land use designation for an area allows for exceptions resulting from previous planning and approved <br />developments. <br /> <br />The Land Use Diagram and Text should be used in conjunction with each other and should not be <br />viewed as separate entities. The symbols on the diagram, designating different uses, directly correlate <br />to the uses explained in the Diagram Text. In other words, “O” (Opportunity Area) on the Diagram is <br />explained under the Opportunity Area section of the Diagram Text. <br /> <br />The Land Use Diagram and Text should be used in conjunction with each other and should not <br />be viewed as separate entities. The symbols on the diagram, designating different uses, directly <br />correlate to the uses explained in the Diagram Text. Land Use – General Policies: <br />• Describe the use of Middle Housing as a transition to the Low Density Residential area <br />description, <br />• Change and simplify the name of the Limited High Density Residential/Limited Institutional <br />(LHDR/LI) area as Limited Institutional (LI), <br />• Remove the exclusion of dorms in the LHDR/LI area description, <br />• Modify description of uses in LHDR/LI area to include University owned high-density Student <br />Housing and Institutional uses in the LHDR/LI area description, <br />• Note that addressing on-campus student housing needs shall have priority in the LHDR/LI area <br />description, and <br />• Update references to East Campus Area Policy to East Campus Area Plan in LHDR/LI area <br />description.
