Larry Smith, Videra Drive HOA
3 

into Videra Creek, so it is clear that the proposed development can have a significant impact on the
continued quality of water and habitat for the entire stream.

Table 2 shows the measured area of the wetlands within the subject area and provides estimates of the
stormwater volume which can be contained within these natural reservoirs.

The estimates of water volume are based upon a study conducted in 2007 by the USGS, with results
published in a paper, “Estimating Water Storage Capacity of Existing and Potentially Restorable Wetland
Depressions in a Sub-basin of the Red River” (Robert A. Gleason, etal). The effective water content was
determined over 132 wetlands, as shown in Figure 5, taken from that report. Typical effective depth
contained in the studied wetlands ranged from a minimum of 0.6 meters (1.96 ft) to a maximum of 1.7
meters (5.24 ft). These results were used in Table 2 to estimate a range of storage capacity available in the
existing wetlands on the subject property.
