Tech Memo
From: Kelly Sandow PE
RE: Willamette Greenway Peak Hour Trip Gen
Date: 9.9.21
The football team currently uses the existing Moshofsky Center for indoor practice. The
current uses within the existing Moshofsky Center will be moved to the new facility and some
of the facilities at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex will be expanded into the new buildings. The
new facility does not increase activity to the site, rather expands area available for the existing
uses.
The existing Moshofsky Center is planned to be repurposed for dedicated use as an indoor
practice facility for the baseball and soccer teams. These teams currently hold practices within
the sports complex (outdoor facilities). The existing Moshofsky Center will provide an option
for indoor practice when weather is inclement.
Trip Generation Estimate
In general the peak hour trips are estimated using the ITE Trip Generation Manuals for new
facilities. However, this new building is considered an upgrade to the existing facilities on site.
Therefore, the new indoor football facility is estimated to not increase vehicle trips to the site.
The following provides further discussion regarding the use and trips on site:
1. The new building will be used exclusively as an indoor practice facility for the
football program. This use already occurs on site at the existing Moshofsky
Center. Additionally, the new building is explicitly replacing the outdoor practice
field currently in use by the football program. While the new building will have a
larger square footage than the existing outdoor practice field. The increase in
square footage provides storage, mechanical areas and additional workout
areas. The building does not increase trips to the site that are not already
present on site. In summary, the proposed building replaces the existing uses on
site and will not generate any new trips.
2. The existing Moshofsky Center will be repurposed for use as an indoor practice
facility for the baseball and soccer teams. Both teams currently practice within
the complex. The existing Moshofsky Center will provide the teams with
practice facilities during inclement weather/air quality conditions The
repurposing of the existing Moshofsky Center for use of an indoor practice
facility for baseball and soccer will not add any additional trips to the site.
3. The practice facility does not increase attendance to football games, baseball
games, soccer games, or day to day operations.
