University of Oregon <br />Indoor Football Practice Facility <br />Willamette Greenway Permit Application September 23, 2021 <br />2.2 Background <br />The Autzen Stadium Complex is a major recreational attraction for the Eugene- <br />Springfield area, accommodating spectators annually at five to seven University of <br />Oregon Ducks home football games, approximately 10 to 12 UO women's lacrosse <br />matches, and approximately 10 to 12 UO women's soccer matches. As illustrated on <br />Sheet L0.000 Autzen Stadium Complex Site Plan (Exhibit A), the Autzen Stadium <br />Complex includes: <br />■ Casanova Center - home of the UO Athletic Department; <br />■ Autzen Stadium - used primarily for UO football games; <br />Moshofsky Center - used as an indoor practice facility by UO athletic teams; <br />■ Pape Field - used for UO women's soccer and lacrosse matches and football <br />practices; <br />■ PK Park - used primarily for UO baseball games and Eugene Emeralds games; <br />■ Hatfield-Dowlin Complex - used for UO football operations; <br />■ Ticket office buildings; accessory structures; parking; and associated <br />infrastructure. <br />As noted previously, the applicant proposes the construction of a new Indoor Football <br />Practice Facility to replace the existing facility. The project is part of planned long-term <br />athletic facility upgrades on the UO campus. <br />The Autzen Stadium Complex is the subject of six prior Willamette Greenway permit <br />approvals for the Moshofsky Center and outdoor athletic fields (WG 96-4), the Autzen <br />Stadium expansion (WG 01-1), Phase I of PK Park (WG 08-02), Phase II of PK Park (WG <br />08-03), the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex (Pape Field) (WG 10-04), and the Casanova Center <br />Extension (Hatfield-Dowlin Complex) (WG 10-05). <br />This proposal is consistent with past Willamette Greenway approvals in both the nature <br />of the proposed use and in provision of findings of compliance with approval criteria. <br />Specifics of the proposal are discussed in Section 4.0 and findings of compliance are <br />provided in Section 6.0. <br />CAMERON MCCARTHY 5 <br />
