Site History Context Map <br /> <br />31 <br />The university acquired the Western Parcel and North of the Railroad Tracks Parcel in 1968. <br />From the 1930Ès to 1968, Eugene Sand and Gravel Company occupied both parcels, using the <br />land for sand and gravel mining. During that time period, the company operated sand and gravel <br />32 <br />quarries on both sides of the river. The Western Parcel contained a gravel screening plant and <br />concrete plant and two settlement ponds for settling fine sediments before discharge into the <br />33 <br />Willamette River.
