Ordinance - Page 1 of 1 ORDINANCE NO. ___ AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE SUNSET DATE OF ORDINANCE NO. 20701 (TEMPORARY ESTABLISHMENT OF “SAFE PARKING” AND “SAFE TENT” SITES THAT ARE LARGER THAN ALLOWED UNDER SECTION 4.816 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971). The City Council of the City of Eugene finds as follows: A. Pursuant to the City Council’s adoption of Ordinance No. 20650 on April 28, 2021, the City began to temporarily allow the establishment of sites that can accommodate a larger number of vehicles or tents than allowed by Section 4.816 of the Eugene Code, 1971. B. On July 24, 2022, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 20672 extending the sunset date that was established by Ordinance No. 20650 until June 30, 2024, and deleting provisions of that ordinance that were no longer necessary. C. On February 26, 2024, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 20701 extending the sunset date that was established by Ordinance No. 20672 until June 30, 2025. D. The City now wishes to extend (by one year) the sunset date that was established by Ordinance No. 20701 until June 30, 2026. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The automatic sunset/repeal provision adopted in Section 1 of Ordinance No. 20701 (which replaced the automatic sunset/repeal provision adopted in Section 2 of Ordinance No. 20672) is amended by replacing it with the following: “This Ordinance shall sunset and be repealed on June 30, 2026, unless extended or made permanent by future Council action.” Section 2. The City Recorder, at the request of, or with the consent of the City Attorney, is authorized to administratively correct any reference errors contained herein.
