Learn why this is important
[EXTERNAL ]
Dear Mr. Gioello,
I am writing regarding PUD 24-001 and ST 24-003 I live at 2623 W 29th Ave, Eugene, OR 97405 and I have strong
concerns regarding the planned development near Videra Oak Meadow. This new development does not meet city code and
should not be allowed. My biggest concern is the parking, this new development does not have plans for adequate parking
for this type of development. I am all in favor of higher density housing up here in the hills. I know the city needs new
housing but it must be done in a way that allows all neighbors to live safely and peacefully. If there is not enough parking and
absolutely no public transportation how are the people supposed to get to their homes and what are they to do with their
cars? There is not adequate street parking up here. This would be a major problem especially with the type of street that is
proposed, it is extremely narrow and does not allow for street parking on either side of the street. We live up here 500 feet
above West 11th ave and it is extremely difficult to bike up these hills even for the fittest of us.
I am a commercial land owner here in Eugene, I am the owner of MetroCom Development and I own the shopping center at
W 11th and City View. I know everytime we start a new development, adequate parking is one of the biggest things the city
demands of a new development. Why are they not doing this here? Everyone who lives up here will have at least one car, if
not two, where are they supposed to put these cars. This development must be redesigned to take parking and street access
into consideration. Also how is the fire department supposed to come to these houses if they cannot drive down the street?
With all this Climate Change fire safety is a major concern that must be taken into consideration.
Sincerely,
Tracie Shojai
2623 W 29th Ave
Eugene, OR 97405
