9-28-23
River Road- Santa Clara Neighborhood Proposed Code Amendments
Attention: Eugene Planning Commissioners c/o Elena Domingo
Planning Commission Members:
I am writing today to object to the proposed code amendments that city staff are
attempting to impose on us in the River Road -Santa Clara Neighborhood. My family has
leased property at 425 River Avenue for over 13 years and this is a unique area
composed of many independent small businesses. If the new amendments are imposed
on us, many of the long time businesses will be forced to move out of this area or will
not be able to rebuild if our current buildings are altered or destroyed. The answer to
this dilemma is simple, direct staff to place an overlay zone or exemption zone on the
already developed and established small triangle of land that runs from River Road east
to the end of River Avenue, then turns West and follows Beltline Road back to River
Road, and then exempt it from these proposed amendments. This small piece of land
has been thoughtfully built and developed consistent with current and historical
standards. Please do not destroy our existing neighborhood, we are happy, prosperous,
and serving the needs of our city.
Please either exempt this "River Avenue/Beltline Triangle" area from the proposed
amendments or vote to reject these new amendments completely. Taking away long
established usesage and developmental rights is just not right or warranted. Thank you
for your consideration.
Bron Fain
425 River Avenue
Eugene, Oregon 97404
Page 116 of 122 25
