BOHNER Rodney T
From:julie schaum <jasch25@q.com>
Sent:Tuesday, August 28, 2018 3:38 PM
To:BOHNER Rodney T
Subject:Testimony, Lombard Apartments
Eugene Planning Commission
c/o Rodney Bohner
PLEASE WALK AWAY from Andrew Brand and his ECCO Apartment-style developments. Out-of-state developers
do not represent local interests. Obvious with ugly ECCO development and all the parking problems associated with
it.
The proposed private Lombard apartment complex is an inappropriate use of public land along our cherished
Willamette River Greenway. It violates 4 of the 7 Pillars of Envision Eugene (the premier community planning
document).
The proposed project:
would NOT provide affordable housing to all income levels
would NOT protect neighborhood livability
would NOT protect natural resources
would NOT provide for collaborative implementation
A collaborative public process for public land could utilize the Pillars of Envision Eugene and protect community
values while achieving community goals.
The proposed market-rate (expensive) Lombard apartment complex is a shoddy scheme. Instead support the
community in acquiring this land and allocating it as Parks and Open Space to continue to be of benefit to the city,
all manner of people, wildlife, trees and the irreplaceable Willamette river.
That said, I understand the critical housing shortage in Eugene and if this beautiful riverside land must be
developed, why shouldn’t it be done in the best possible way for the most amount of people? Why does River Road
keep getting ugly, shoddy housing developments, unlike the South Hills or many other parts of town?
Thank you for the opportunity to submit testimony.
Julie Schaum
River Road Resident
1324 Manzana St.
97404
1
144
