Figure 4: Looking to the north from the cast leg of Lombard Lane/Fir lane intersection
From the west leg of the intersection, there is insufficient intersection sight distance for
eastbound uncontrolled vehicles. From the north leg of the intersection, there is insufficient
intersection sight distance for southbound left turning vehicles entering Maurie Jacobs Park.
Again according to A-ASHTO, the uncontrolled movements of the intersection should have
a clear sight triangle of 70 feet along each intersection leg based on a design speed of 15
MPH. In other words, measured 70 feet back from the intersection along each leg, there
should be a clear sight triangle available to the driver in order to provide the driver the ability,
to react to the uncontrolled situation. Due to the presence of a fence located on the
northwest corner of the intersection, there is insufficient intersection sight distance at the
intersection as illustrated in Figure G. In addition to the AASI--HT'O standards, this
intersection also fails to meet the requirements of fiC Figure 9.0500 with regard to Vision
Clearance which requires a clear vision triangle measuring 35 feet from the intersection along
each intersection leg. None of the intersection legs are clear measured 35 feet back from the
intersection.
