Also can you describe the plan for “stimulating “ citizen involvement by using diverse media?
Can you document the involvement of our local universities and colleges of planning 3 acres of public land adjacent to E
Briarclliff?
I believe that these are legitimate questions informed by Oregon’s Goal One.
Had Goal One been practiced Lane County and Eugene would have discovered that our neighborhood is small but unique in its
exemplary affordable housing for senior adults and those with mobility support needs. Had Goal One been practiced, Lane
County, Homes for Good and Eugene would have assessed the rich social capital of the neighborhood and taken steps to
conserve the wellbeing that arises in the neighborhood.
The irony is obvious. Lane County Homes for Good purchased 3 acres of open space for the public purpose of providing
affordable housing to those in need. Homes for Good has sold our public owned property to a private interest for the purpose of
providing market value housing. Even the profit Homes for Good realizes from the sale will not entirely be used for affordable
housing with plans os using the proceeds for building a new administration building for Homes for Good. The irony of course
being that if our neighborhood simply expanded upon what it is currently doing around social care on Homes for Good public
lands, we would be providing exemplary demonstration of affordable housing for people with mobility support needs and other
social supports.
2
