Attachment C
Attachment B
UNIVERSITY OF OREGON
December 26, 2017
Dear Nick Gioello:
I'm writing to express my opposition to the Capital Hill PUD. I'm also requesting
to have this letter entered into record for the Capital Hill PUD (PDT 17-01).
There are numerous reasons why the PUD is a major concern, including its
negative environmental impact and the lack of access for emergency vehicles to
enter the area in the event of a fire. I also want to highlight some additional safety
concerns of this development.
I regularly ride my bicycle to my job at the University of Oregon from my home
at 1985 Woodlawn Ave. My route is Spring Blvd, and currently I already face
numerous hazards due to a narrow winding road with a number of blind curves.
On my bike, I've already encountered cars that have run me off the road or cars
that have almost collided as they try to pass around me. The increase in the
number of cars due to the PUD will only increase this danger. And the notion that
large construction vehicles will drive up and down the road for years will further
intensify this danger.
Moreover, my wife and I are starting a family. One of the reasons we moved to
the area was so that we could have children that can walk to school. Again, the
possibility that traffic and construction vehicles will multiply due to the PUD
raises many concerns for the safety of kids in the neighborhood.
I respectfully ask the Eugene City Planning Department to put an end to the
Capital Hill PUD. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Daniel Steinhart
Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies, University of Oregon
1985 Woodlawn Ave.
Eugene, OR 97403
DEPARTMENT OF CINEMA STUDIES
1275 University of Oregon, Eugene OR 97403-0000 T 541-346-0000 F 541-346-0000 uoregon.edu
AN EQUAL-OPPORTUNITY, AFFIRMATIVE-ACTION INSTITUTION COMMITTED TO CULTURAL DIVERSITY AND COMPLIANCE WITH THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT
Page 352
