BERG-JOHANSEN Erik
From: Cindy Allen <cindyallen2l@yahoo.com>
Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2017 12:27 AM
To: BERG-JOHANSEN Erik
Subject: Amazon Corners Traffic Impact
I am very concerned about the proposed 5 story, 62ft. high, 108 residential units and retail service
area proposed for the corner of Hilyard and Amazon Parkway. 3 stories, with fewer residential
units, is a much preferred configuration.
This is already a very busy area-especially during morning rush hours. Hilyard was really too narrow
for the added bike lanes. Thankfully, few bikes use the bike lanes but during the morning if
someone
is riding in the bike lane. I often wait until there is a free space from the other lane and merge into it
slightly to pass the biker. That is what other cars do also because the area is so very close. Often
there is a ""bottle-neck in traffic because cars are slowing to get around the bike. When I ride a bike I
don't feel safe doing so on Hilyard because you are right next to the cars. I ride on the sidewalk.
There is a lack of safe crossing on Hilyard for pedestrians and bikes. There should be another traffic
study done during the morning rush hours about 8-8:30am or the evening rush hour-the afternoon is
not a time to see the extent of the traffic.
Thank you.
Cindy Allen
