From: Luke Habberstad [mailto:luke.habberstad@gmail.com]
Sent: Sunday, January 08, 2017 9:57 AM
To: BERG-JOHANSEN Erik <Erik.Bere@ci.eueene.or.us>
Cc: Ethan Guillen <ethaneuillen@email.com>
Subject: Comments on TIA for "Amazon Corner"
Dear Mr. Berg,
We are writing in response to the Traffic Impact Analysis for the "Amazon Corner" development. We live at
3435 Kincaid St, between 32nd St. and 35th St. In general, we support denser, in-fill development projects in
Eugene (reflected in many of the policies articulated in the Eugene Code, see esp. EC 9.0020.1.a-c). The
corner of Hilyard and 32nd St. seems like a perfect place for this kind of development, and we welcome the
energy that the new retail and residences will bring to the neighborhood.
We echo concerns in the Amazon Corner TIA (see section 6.2) that a possible pedestrian (and bike?) crossing
should be studied for the stretch of Hilyard between 31 st and 32nd. Even now, many pedestrians and bikers try
to cross Hilyard in that stretch, and with the development of a new residential complex the number of these
pedestrians and bikers will surely increase. We believe putting a crossing somewhere between 31st and 32nd
would help ensure the safety of pedestrians and bikers.
Thanks very much!
Sincerely,
Luke Habberstad
Ethan Guillen
