May 6, 2015
Jane Katra
4017 Dillard Road
Eugene, Oregon 97405
541-344-9663
To the Planning and Development Department, City of Eugene:
This is a heartfelt letter asking you to
Deny the AT&T CUP application 14-003 for a proposed 75-ft. cellular tower at
4060 W. Amazon Drive.
I live in SE Eugene. I have been walking along West Amazon Drive and on
the bark trails beside Amazon Creek since I moved to this special part of Eugene in
1974. That's 41 years that I've paid taxes that have been spent to develop what is
designated in the Eugene Metropolitan Plan and the Eugene Park System as "Park
and Open Space" as well as a "Natural Area" to "promote environmental
appreciation" and protect its "scenic, aesthetic, and environmental resources." A
cell tower here would destroy scenic, aesthetic, and environmental resources.
Soon my grandchildren be able to continue the walk south up to the Ridgeline
Trail. What a treasure for everyone, now that the Noble family has made it
possible for the city to purchase the precious Headwaters of Amazon Creek. And
how lucky we all are that the Lane County Audubon Society, the Oregon Track
Club, and the Rexius Company have also donated so many thousands of dollars.
for the benefit of all to enjoy our city's special Amazon Creek Corridor.
In reference to EC 9.8090 (1) and (2)(a) and (b): The proposed cell tower at
this site would be a grotesquely offensive blight on my soul, and on the soul of
our city's unique Amazon Creek Corridor. It would be a slap in the face to all
taxpayers and donors who have given so generously to preserve the natural
environment and protect its birds and wildlife. A 75-ft. corporate monolith would
be absolutely incompatible with the Amazon Creek Corridor's spiritual, aesthetic,
