JANISCH Amy C
Subject: FW: Urban Growth Project
From: Donna Corwin [mailto:dreorwin66@gmail.com]
Sent: Wednesday, February 08, 2017 10:52 AM
To: Eugene Envision Eugene <EnvisionEugene@ci.eugene.or.us>
Subject: Urban Growth Project
My husband and I own the 8.2 acres located on the NW corner of River Loop 2 where it dead ends into River
Loop 1. We have owned and lived on this property for 30 years. We actually used to lease the vacant field
behind Madison Middle School for our commercial strawberry fields.
We appreciate the plans for a nice park in this area, however we don't understand why the city of Eugene does
not expand the Urban Grown Boundary, not only to include the parcels in question, but take the logical step to
expand the Urban Growth Boundary to the Willamette River which is a natural boundary line.
Eugene is experiencing a severe housing shortage and the land available in our area is a logical choice for
expansion, particularly with the size of the park that the City is planning to build.
Not all property owners would choose to develop their land, but there are some that would and I think the time
is now for the City of Eugene to expand the UGB to encompass this area.
