Debra and Kent McIntosh
5185 W. Amazon Dr.
Eugene, OR 97405
November 3, 2015
City of Eugene Planning Division
99 W. 10th Avenue
Eugene, OR 97401
Re: Chamotee Trails PUD (City File PDT 15-1/ARA 15-13)
To Whom It May Concern:
We are writing to provide input regarding the Chamotee Trails PUD application. We live just down the
street from the proposed development. We are not opposed to the application in principle and could
support it except for one issue that we feel must be addressed before the project can safely be
approved. This concern regards single egress and its implications in case of fire or other emergencies.
According to the application it states that the "street includes both improved and unimproved right-of-
way. The dedicated West Amazon Drive right-of-way connects from Fox Hollow to Martin Street".
However, there is currently no vehicular access to Martin Street or anywhere else. The end of West
Amazon is gated, and the right-of-way to Martin St. is blocked by a blown culvert on Amazon Creek.
Alternate access to Fox Hollow is blocked by gated private property. As such, the only route for all
residents of West Amazon Drive, Pine Forest, Senger Lane and Foxboro is up West Amazon Drive to Fox
Hollow. The number of lots using this single egress far exceeds the 19 lots specified in the application
process and I feel that this discrepancy needs to be addressed for the safety of the neighborhood
BEFORE approving further development exacerbating the problem.
Respectfully,
Debra and Kent McIntosh
