The applicant requests a variance to this standard. <br />Findings of compliance with the criteria in EC 9.8760, approval criteria variances, are provided <br />in section 4.2. <br />(4) Maximum Sign Area. In addition to all other standards, the general office <br />sign standards shall apply the following size limitations: <br />(a) A freestanding sign shall be no more than 32 square feet for 1 face and <br />64 square feet for 2 or more faces. <br />The proposal does not involve any freestanding signs. This standard does not apply <br />(b) The sum of the area of all wall signs, marquee signs and awning signs <br />on any wall where the general office sign standards apply shall be <br />limited to 0.5 square feet times the length of the perimeter wall upon <br />which the signs are located. <br />As noted above, the proposal involves two (2) wall signs. <br /> <br />The northern “O” wall sign is on the northern façade of the indoor practice facility. The wall <br />has a perimeter length of approximately 550’. The area of the proposed “O” logo is 696 square <br />feet (29’ high x 24’ width), which exceeds the 275 square feet permitted by 9.6655 (4)(b). <br />Therefore, the Applicant requests a variance to the standards of EC 9.6655 (4)(b) for the <br />northern “O” wall sign. Findings of compliance with the criteria in EC 9.8760, approval criteria <br />variances, are provided in section 4.2. <br /> <br />The southern “O” wall sign is on the southern façade of the indoor practice facility. The wall's <br />perimeter length is approximately 580’. The area of the southern wall sign is 47 square feet (8’ <br />height x 5’ 10.5” width) is less than the 290 square feet permitted by 9.6655 (4)(b). Therefore, <br />this standard is met for the southern wall sign. <br />(c) No awning, marquee, under-marquee, or wall sign may exceed 100 <br />square feet per face. <br />As noted above, the proposal involves two (2) wall signs. <br /> <br />The area of the northern “O” wall sign is 696 square feet, which exceeds the 100 square feet <br />permitted by EC 9.6655 (4)(C). Therefore, the Applicant requests a variance to the standards in <br />EC 9.6655 (4)(C) for the northern wall sign. Findings of compliance with the criteria of EC <br />9.8760, approval criteria variances, are provided in section 4.2. <br /> <br />The area of the southern “O” wall sign is 47 square feet and is located on a separate face <br />from the northern wall sign, as shown in Exhibit A. Therefore, this standard is met for the <br />southern “O” wall sign.
