1. The River Road Plan which the City Planning Department has
destroyed. Was laid out to have the higher density along the bus route
on River Road.
1. Will people be more likely to use the bus if they are concentrated
close to the bus line or if they have to walk about a half mile to get to
a stop?
2. The random placement of housing will end like the Jefferson Area
which is the lowest cost for housing because its not a plesant place to
live. Apaertments block the sun for backyrds and destory privacy of
surrounding housing units. No yhought is given to the livablity of the
provided housing units only to maximize the profits of the owners.
3. The stndards are so low as to be useless. A 20 square foot patio is not a
space where one can seat four people and have a BBQ. How do you
expect people to care about the environment if they are not given a
decent one to live in.
4. There are some nice apartments; one set located at the end of High
Street next to the park, design by Seder, Unthank and Poticha.
Another is the Apartments on Willamette and 22nd. Architect Dan Hill
did a neighborly set of Cottages On River Road between East
Rosewood and Owosso. But they are the exceptions. Most are like the
set of Apartments on the corner of River Road and Owosso. Not only
do the units oerlook the surrounding yard from a six foot set back but
the "front" yard and easement is a private gravelled parking lot for the
occupanty. The public easement is ment for a set back green way and
sidewalk no a prive parking area.
5. Allowing builders to build shoddy units anywhere with out accounting
for the existing solar access, gardening areas and backyard area is not
good planning.
Thank you
gary Reiber
22
