ACTION
® RENT ALL& EVENTS
Kevin & Lora Journey
121 River Ave
This letter is being written on behalf of Action Rent -All and its 18 employees. Action had a vision to
better service its local customers in the River Road area by purchasing new land, expanding and growing
the business that built this neighborhood, If this code change is adopted it will force Action to relocate
where they are welcome and able to expand with their growing community to fit the needs of their
customers.
If the plan objective was to eliminate motor vehicle uses, then why was the trade (retail & wholesale)
included in this plan. Action offers the contractor and everyday home owner the ability to use a piece of
equipment without owning it at the convenience of being in there back yard. By renting instead of
owning we are cutting down on the carbon footprint of the future by reuse, recycle and less
manufacturing.
River Ave was not included in the Plan but City staff decided it was easier to include and that is how we
got here. A commercial street with good commercial businesses serving its community well, being told
that we will be nonconforming and will not be able to expand and grow with the community. By
eliminating these businesses it will increase traffic and the carbon footprint because of the excess
driving needed to get to these essential businesses new locations.
In summary we are thanking you and everyone's time invested in this plan but hope you will reconsider
the negative conquests it will have on our local businesses and your future time that will be needed
because of these changes.
1. At very least the lack of a site specific plan will allow for more appeals and site reviews
2. The lack of parking or enforcement of undeveloped street parking
3. Draft code amendments are not consistent with State wide Planning Goals
4. Draft codes amendments are not consistent with the comprehensive plan and the draft RRSC
Pian
5. The new restrictions would go against the Eugene Comprehensive Plan "Business retention and
expansion. Facilitate the retention and growth of existing businesses in the community"
