6.2 Organization of Design Standards and Guidelines <br />Each new zone will have a set of applicable development standards and design standards that are <br />clear and objective. In addition, each district will have a set of design guidelines associated with each <br />design standard. As an alternative to compliance with the design standards, an applicant may apply <br />for approval of an alternative through the Design Review process in accordance with the provisions of <br />EC 9.3190. <br />The design guidelines and standards will be organized in the code on a one to one basis. The design <br />standard will provide discretionary criteria for meeting a design topic. The guideline criteria can be <br />met in a clear and objective way by meeting the requirements of the associated design standard. <br />Should the applicant decide to meet the design guideline criteria in a way that does not meet the <br />standard but provides better outcome, the applicant may pursue an Adjustment Review or Design <br />Review path. <br />Examples: <br /> <br />CC Agenda - Page 55
