DRAFT
ground-motion amplification or attenuation at each spectral period to develop a
recommended ground-surface response spectrum. Based on our review of available
geologic and subsurface information for the project area and the results of subsurface
explorations and in-situ geophysical testing completed for this project, it is our opinion
the site can generally be classified as Site Class D in accordance with Chapter 20 of ASCE
7-16. The recommended response spectra for structural design were developed by
comparing the site-specific spectra based on site-response modeling with the code-based
spectra based on Site Class D conditions. Table 5-1 below provides a summary of the
recommended multiperiod Risk-Targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCER)
horizontal response spectrum developed for nonlinear response history analysis (RHA),
and additional details regarding the RHA are provided below and in Appendix C. The table
also includes a summary of the corresponding vertical response spectrum, which was
developed by applying published relationships of empirical vertical-to-horizontal
response spectra models to the horizontal multiperiod MCER response spectrum as
discussed in Appendix B.
Table 5-1: RECOMMENDED MCER RESPONSE SPECTRAL VALUES FOR RHA, 5% DAMPING
PGA
0.42
0.23
0.030
0.46
0.28
0.050
0.56
0.39
0.075
0.72
0.59
0.100
0
200
0.92
0
95
0.71
0
60
.
0.300
0
500
.
0.95
0
92
.
0.48
0
40
.
0.750
.
0.81
.
0.35
1.000
0.63
0.28
1.500
2
000
0.40
0
30
0.20
0
16
.
2.500
.
0.24
.
0.13
3.000
0.20
0.11
4.000
0.15
0.09
5.000
0.12
0.07
For dynamic analysis using the equivalent lateral force (ELF) design procedure, the MCER
and design acceleration parameters are developed in accordance with Section 21.4 of
GRI #6497-A - 2.MO Indoor Football Practice Facility Page 20
August 26, 2021
