The city said it will recycle and reuse as much <br />from the buildings as possible. <br />The demolition of the tire shop will allow contractors to begin the prep work for <br />the three-acre riverfront park. They must move utility lines before workers can <br />remove rip-rap, lessen the-slope of the riverbank and swap out nonnative <br />vegetation with native plantings. Park construction will begin next summer. <br />The city plans to close the section of the riverfront bike path that runs through the <br />area in mid-June. <br />Having two separate but related projects within close proximity to each other <br />demands close coordination between city officials and their contractors, while also <br />signaling to the public that two major projects are nearing construction.
