GIOELLO Nick R <br />From:Lindsay Marean <lmarean@bensay.org> <br />Sent:Tuesday, September 11, 2018 10:29 AM <br />To:GIOELLO Nick R <br />Subject:support for North Campus Conditional Use Permit <br />IamwritingtovoicemysupportfortheUniversityofOregon'sapplicationforarenewedNorthCampusconditionaluse <br />permit.IworkattheMillrace,floatthatsectionoftheWillamette,andwalk,run,andbicycleonthepathsinthatarea. <br />Currently,therearepatchesofbothmanmadeandnaturalbeautyinthatarea,interspersedwithoutofcontrol <br />blackberriesandunsanctionedhumancamps(alongwithgarbageandprobablyhumanwaste).Theareahassomuch <br />potential,andIwouldlovetoseeitbeintentionallydeveloped. <br />TheUniversity'scurrentplan,althoughvague,isconsistentwithmy <br />values:lotsofrestoration,somerecreationalfacilities,hopefullybetteraccesstoandintegrationoftheriverfront,and <br />plannedandorderlyexpansionofcampusbuildings.MyonlyadditionalhopeisthattheUniversitywillallocatesufficient <br />fundstocaretaketheareasothatitremainscleanandsafe(itisonlymarginallysoatthistime). <br />Someopponentstotheplanhavetheirownvisionofarestorationeducationprogram.Iencouragethemtofullyflesh <br />outtheirplansfortheirprogram,andtolocateasiteandfundingtomakethatdreamareality.NorthCampusisnotthat <br />site.NorthCampusneedsattentionnow,andtheUniversityappearstohaveadesiretogiveittheattentionitneeds. <br />Bestregards, <br />LindsayMarean <br />1880HayesSt. <br />Eugene <br />1 <br /> <br />
