an enormous dump truck too wide to let you through or a some other
heavy duty vehicle filled with building materials being driven by someone
who is overly confident and unwilling to even slow down as you face
wondering whether there is room for you to squeeze through.
We have already lived through many months of a house under construction
right on Capital Drive. So we have had a taste in smaller degree of how
this development could change our lives and well being.
The proposed PUD, without some other access road for construction
vehicles to get in to and out of the area would pose an unbearable burden
on our neighborhood. My understanding is that so many units are planned
that we would be facing this scenario for years to come.
But this is not just a matter of inconvenience. This is a situation that would
be completely unsafe. Without another access road this development
plan would be putting lives at risk.
There are many other reasons environmentally to oppose this
development. They are more complicated. But our main concern
is the danger and risk of bodily injury that would threaten us, our neighbors,
our neighborhood children and the frequent naive visitors who seem to
compound the problems.
On the grounds of safety alone we ask you to deny this application.
I ask that this letter be entered into the public record.
Thank you for your consideration,
Susan Hopkins
2840 Alta Vista Ct., Eugene 97403
