POD,filePDT 13-1.
About 12 years ago I was in the Eugene area house hunting with my daughter Rachel Heinze, now Rachel Stedman. We
found a great home for her at 131 Oakleigh Lane. The day after signing the sale papers I had a bad thought.
The land across the street was open space and I became concerned about what could be built there. I went to the city
planning dept. and was told to go to the county. I was allowed to look at the zoning maps and was assured that the
empty property was zoned for Single Family Residence and not some large development as I was fearing. So, we went
through with the buy.
You already know the rest of the story, so I'll cut to the chase.
Oakleigh Lane is way too narrow of a street for the number of units proposed. The neighborhood was lied to when the
project was first presented, it was much smaller at first. Filling in parts of the meadow with base rock is a terrible idea.
Oakleigh Lane has drainage problems that are not being addressed. The fact that the City of Eugene can take over
parcels from Lane County without any say from the residents living in the immediate area is something that is almost
unheard of.
Please keep Oakleigh Lane for my granddaughter and other small children in the neighborhood. Reduce the size of the
co-housing project or build single family homes as originally planned.
Thank you for your consideration
William Heinze, 590 Risso Ct.
