Communities are encouraged to use <br />these as a starting point; innovative solutions can be designed <br />for local situations. Here are a few key points to keep in mind: <br />V Streets wider than 28 feet are NOT, by definition, a "narrow street." <br />Two-way streets under 20 feet are NOT recommended. If, in a <br />special circumstance, a community allows a street less than 20 feet, <br />safety measures such as residential sprinklers*, one-way street desig- <br />nations, and block lengths less than 300 feet may be needed. <br />* Fire sprinklers in one and two family structures must be approved by the local building <br />department in accordance with standards adopted by the Building Codes Division under <br />ORS 455.610. <br />16 <br />106 <br />
