Amazon Dr.
Hey Gilbert,
I spoke to Mr. Zeller a couple weeks ago regarding this issue. I let him know that the Chamotee Trails PUD is still in the
completeness review stage, and that the Fire Dept. has not been sent a referral yet (but that Fire would be evaluating
the project once it was deemed complete). I also let Mr. Zeller know that an issue regarding the "19 lot rule" was
identified, and that staff was aware of the safety issues associated with a single point of vehicle egress. Because there
are already more than 19 lots along this stretch of Fox Hollow, the 19-lot rule would essentially require the applicant to
provide a secondary access to serve the proposed PUD.
We sent the applicant our completeness review comments and have not heard back yet. The next step will be to
evaluate supplemental materials if/when they are submitted.
Hope this helps and feel free to contact me tomorrow to discuss,
Erik Berg-Johansen
Assistant Planner
City of Eugene
541-682-5437
From: GORDON Gilbert [maiIto: ggordonCa springfield-or.govl
Sent: Wednesday, April 08, 2015 4:24 PM
To: SMITH Deanna N; HANEY Ed R; BERG-JOHANSEN Erik
Subject: FW: Fire Emergency Egress for W. Amazon Dr.
Howdy.
Below is an e-mail string started by a concerned citizen, Dick Zeller, who brought up some concerns
with citizen evacuation out of a single point of access that was blocked by fire apparatus staged
during the Fox Hollow Fire last summer.
Anyway, Chief Groves got the inquiry from Mayor Piercy who then passed it down to my boss, Fire
Marshal Al Gerard who then passed it down to me and told me to get an answer for the Chief soon.
Note that Chief alluded to a possible development. Deanna confirmed that Chamotee Trails PUD is in
this area and may be the ultimate concern. I haven't seen the proposal yet since it is still in
completeness review, but we may have to look at secondary access.
Thoughts?
