1 provide indoor coverage in areas where there are residences, businesses
2 and indoor recreational facilities.
3 In light of these considerations, AT&T's coverage objectives for this proposed site are:
Geographic Area
From
To
Coverage Objective
Amazon Drive
Hilyard
Snell
Indoor and outdoor
coverage for this 1.3
mile stretch of
Amazon Drive
Fox Hollow and
Amazon Drive
Near Donald St.
Indoor and outdoor
surrounding
coverage for the 0.4
neighborhoods
square mile area
4 4. DETERMINATION OF SEARCH RINGS
5 When designing a search ring for a proposed antenna site, radio frequency engineers take into
6 consideration the coverage objectives for the site as well as the terrain in and around the area to be
7 covered. Since radio frequency broadcasts travel in a straight line and diminish as they travel further
8 away from the antennas, it is generally best to place an antenna site near the center of the desired
9 coverage area. However, in certain cases, the search ring may be located away from the center of the
10 desired coverage area due to the existing coverage, the surrounding terrain or clutter (trees, hills, etc.)
11 or other features which might affect the radio frequency broadcasts like buildings or sources of
12 electrical interference.
13 Based upon these considerations, AT&T identified the search ring that was filed with its
14 application for this site.
15 5. ALTERNATE SITE ANALYSIS
16 When reviewing the properties both inside of and surrounding the search ring for this candidate,
17 AT&T considered the three alternate sites identified in the RF Justification, in the section entitled
18 "Analyses of Alternate Site Locations", and Exhibits D.1, D.2, E.1, E.2, F.1 and F.2. As indicated in the
19 RF Justification, none of the three alternate sites will provide acceptable quality of service in the
Declaration of Vicki Littlefield Page 8
CU 14-3
