Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
DAS is comprised of a series of small, synchronized antennas that provides a web of coverage over specific target areas
where it may not be possible to construct larger (macro or micro) facilities. DAS augments macro networks, and are lower
power, smaller in size and located at lower heights than traditional antenna. DAS are most effective in flatter areas where
hills and valleys can't affect signals. They are best for adding capacity to areas with a high density of mobile and/or pedes-
trian users such as a mall, airport or sports facility.
ir.% i - ,F i
in addition to these wireless antenna systems that provide voice and data service, AT&T can provide a Wi-Fi hot zone, which
delivers high speed Internet access that does not count against your AT&T mobile data plan. Wi-Fi "hotzones" may be
bigger than a typical Wi-Fi hotspot and are primarily focused on providing outdoor Wi-Fi coverage.
Cell sites often support various generations of wireless technology, from second generation (2G) GSM through
fourth generation LTE (4G LTE). As new generations of technology are deployed, customers migrate to the newer
technology over time. These cell sites help provide the fast network coverage you've come to expect from AT&T.
Can Deliver 4G Speeds
with Enhanced Backhaul
• Consistent with worldwide global
standards for GSM device
• Lets you use your device globally
LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. This acronym refers to the ongoing process of improving wireless technology
standards with speeds up to 10x faster than 3G. LTE technology is the latest step in increasing broadband speeds to meet
the demands of users and the variety of content accessed over mobile networks.
Technology that enables 4G speeds up to 4x faster than AT&T's already fast mobile broadband network.
AT&T has nationwide 4G LTE coverage, bringing faster speeds to more than 300 million Americans. With the
introduction of 4G LTE, AT&T is also the only carrier that offers two layers of network technology that deliver 4G speeds: LTE
and HSPA+.
Why does that matter? Customers enjoy fast 4G speeds on both the HSPA+ network and on the LTE network where
available. That means a smoother, more consistent 4G experience overall and continued fast speeds as customers move
n and out of 4G LTE areas. Customers of other providers who do not have HSPA+ with enhanced backhaul are likely to see a
steep drop-off in speeds when they move out of LTE areas.
