Ex. F
2) Intake Air Noise
No change was made in the equipment that quiets the fresh air intake of the generator room yet
substantial changes are found within the noise prediction calculation. No accounting or narrative
describes the rational for the changes.
Despite dramatic changes in the calculation, the net effect for the predicted noise level at the westerly
property remained the same, 38 dBA. And the predicted noise level at the southern property was
reduced by 1 dB, from 44 dB to 43 dBA. The changes are noted below.
To the West: Noise Control attenuation is lessened from -17 to -10 dBA
Building Factor attenuation is raised from -15 to -22,
Resulting noise impact remains the same at 38 dBA.
To the South: Noise Control attenuation is lessened from -17 to -10 dBA
Building Factor attenuation of -10 dBA is replaced by-7 dBA
Resulting noise impact increases from 34 dBA (errata 43) to 44 dBA
Noise Control attenuation quiets noise by adding a muffler, noise louvers or lined hood.
Building Factor attenuation quiets noise by adding sound panels in the room where the noise is created
or by blocking the path of the noise with a building or fence
The Noise Control is corrected by removing -7 dB attenuation that is actually a Building Factor
attenuation, due to the addition of sound absorbing panels inside the generator room, which is a Building
Factor attenuation. Accordingly, the Building Factor attenuation is raised by an additional -7 dBA for
both the west and southern properties.
3) Air Discharge Noise
There was a change in the equipment associated with noise control of the air discharge. An acoustic
lined hood was added outside, covering the air discharge opening which further attenuates the air
discharge noise. The acoustic lined hood was assigned an attenuation rating of -10 dB in the previous
report and continues to assign it a -10 dBA rating in the present report.
Additionally the above noted adjustment that backs -7 dBA out of Noise Control attenuation and adds it
back into the Building Factor attenuation applies here as well. This is how SSA presents the readjusted
Air Discharge noise calculation.
To the West: Noise Control attenuation is raised from -17 to -27 dBA
Building Factor attenuation remains the same at -15 dBA
Resulting noise impact is reduced by -10 dBA, to 28 dBA
To the South: Noise Control attenuation is raised from -17 to -27 dBA
Building Factor remains the same at 0 dBA
Resulting noise impact is reduced from 44 dBA to 34 dBA
2
