Planning and Development Department City of Eugene
To Whom It May Concern:
I am a resident of South Eugene requesting denial of the proposal by AT&T to erect a monopine cell
tower at 4060 West Amazon Drive. I have examined the site, related photos and the illustration
provided by AT&T in their application materials.
I live at 5210 Canyon Drive which is also connected to the Amazon Creek system. I drive to work
everyday past the proposed site and walk the trail past it four time a week.
I also regularly drop off stuff at the dump and am visually assaulted by the cell tower/fake tree which
stands by the driveway. Even in the gritty context of the dump, it is truly creepy . It is hard to imagine
such a large, permanent and disturbing structure being permitted in such a public way in the Amazon
corridor.
I wholeheartedly support the efforts of the Neighborhood group in opposing this proposal, and so I attach
my comments to their form letter.
In reference to EC 9.9630 (3)(e) South Hills Study Policies: I believe the proposed cell tower in the form
of an 80 foot tall monopine would not blend with, but rather would denigrate and dominate over, the
aesthetically pleasing natural scenery of this residential area.
In reference to Metro Plan EA: I believe a monopine tower at this site would degrade, rather than preserve
and enhance, the best qualities and unique environmental character of the neighborhood and Amazon
Creek corridor area, and the sense of identity with the area for those of us who truly enjoy those features.
In reference to EC 9.8090 (1) and (2)(a) and (b): I believe a tower at this site would not be reasonably
compatible with this neighborhood, as it would cause substantial off-site impacts. There could be no
adequate screening by standing trees shielding it from view from Amazon Creek or the Rexius Trails or
our cherished Kincaid City Park just across the creek. Its negative visual impact could not be mitigated.
I urge City staff to recommend denial, and the Hearings Official to deny, the AT&T Conditional
Use Permit application 14-003 at 4060 West Amazon, Calvary Fellowship Church (a.k.a. Crossfire
World Outreach Ministries).
Signature s) Date :
,C,.440 ) C
.11 9te- Printed names 1 n
l ~
Street address (with zip) Email(s)
S-2-t0 OW 10 rJ ID rz- I L(O
tlr.c55a-L4` 8Jw\.aLL .
