From: Heather Sielicki
To: GIO O Ni k R
Cc: TAYLOR Betty L
Subject: Re: CUP 14-003
Date: Thursday, April 30, 2015 11:17:46 AM
Dear Mr. Gioello:
The possible placement of a cell tower in the heart of the Amazon Creek Corridor at 4060 W
Amazon Drive in Southeast Eugene has been a subject of great interest and concern for many
residents of the Southeast Neighbors area.
According to a survey conducted by the Friends of Amazon Creek, our neighbors responded
to the question "Are you concerned about the possibility of cell towers being built in your
neighborhood?" with an overwhelming majority of 86.6%. Only 13.4% answered "No."
For those answering "Yes," when asked to rate their specific concerns, strong concerns were
expressed about aesthetic values, "setback' from adjacent property lines, and loss of property
value.
The Southeast Neighbors Board requested that the City Council review and revise the City
Code to more effectively protect residential areas and take into account the concerns of local
citizens in regard to siting of telecommunications facilities.
In the instance of CUP application 14-003, which proposes placement of a
telecommunications tower on a residential zoned church property, we hereby request that the
Planning Division recommend denial and that the Hearing Officer deny this application.
Please enter this letter into the record.
Sincerely,
The Southeast Neighbors Board
