PH-39 <br />th <br />Sept. 9, 2013 <br />To Hearings Official, <br />I was a member of the Oakleigh Meadow group for over a year before withdrawing because the <br />unit price had increased beyond my financial means. I am concerned because I understand some <br />resistance to the project fromOakleigh Lane neighbors has emerged since my departure in the <br />spring. <br />As I understand it, there are two main concerns. One has been expressed by neighbors adjacent <br />to the property and stems from a fear that the development will significantly block theirsunlight. <br />I believe one of the architects involved in the project has responded to this concern by stating <br />that it is unfounded. <br />The second concern regards increased traffic on Oakleigh Lane. It is true that residents of <br />Oakleigh Meadow will use OakleighLane as the access road to the development. However, in <br />planning the development, provisions for parking for both residents and guests were a high <br />priority, and the site plan includes extensive plantings on Oakleigh Lane to reduce the visual <br />impact of site parking on adjacent neighbors. <br />There is no doubt in my mind that the Oakleigh Meadow site will eventually be developed. The <br />property is too valuable to continue to remain in its pristine state, no matter how much the <br />neighbors would prefer this option.Oakleigh Meadow members are committed to good relations <br />with the neighborhood in a way that the residents of a commercial apartment complex would <br />never be. <br />The city of Eugene, as I understand it, is committed to curbing urban sprawl and encouraging <br />infill. The group of households developing the Oakleigh Lane property will be responsible and <br />responsive neighbors.
